Sodexo Construction, Inc. retained Dembling+ Dembling Architects, P.C. to develop and implement a new dining concept at Evansdale Residence Dining Hall.
DDA was the prime consultant providing architectural and food service design as well as coordinating structural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design consultants.
The renovation involved a total area of approximately 13,000 square feet. The space was completely renovated to include action stations, including a demonstration cooking area, in a contemporary atmosphere. The existing dishware vertical conveying system to a dishwasher in the basement was removed and replaced with a new dish return accumulator and dishwashing area within the space to gain additional floor area and make the dishwasher process more efficient. It also improved sight lines in the space which resulted in a more open feel.
A variety of seating types and configurations were provided and the total capacity was increased approximately 20 percent.
The project was completed within a 3-month construction schedule and below budget.
